The hard part of a time tracker is the math, so that is where most of the work went. A shift can be split in two, cross midnight or include an unpaid break. Overtime is 1.5x after 40 hours a week, with daily rules for California. A raise starts on its date and leaves past pay periods as they were. The report splits each pay period by work week, the way payroll counts it.
To make sure the numbers hold up, 112 logic tests run in three time zones (Singapore, New York and Auckland), which catches midnight and daylight saving mistakes a single time zone would miss.
