A website that answers with a price

The visitor describes a part and sees the price, the breakdown and the lead time while they type - then sends a complete, numbered request. 78 automated tests.

Self-initiated demo - not client work. Northgate Metalworks is an invented company. Every number on this page comes from the demo itself, which you can open and try.

The case

Most small manufacturers have a website that works like a business card: a phone number, a few photos, and a form that says "write to us". The buyer who needs a price for one part does not write. They go to whoever answers first.

This site answers first. The visitor describes the part in ordinary fields - material, thickness, size, quantity, bends, holes, finish, tolerance - and the panel beside the form keeps up as they type: a price range, the price per piece, what it is made of, and the lead time in working days.

It behaves like a person who knows the shop. Need it sooner than the normal lead time? It adds the rush charge and says why. Ordering fewer pieces than the shop's minimum? It tells the customer, instead of quietly quoting nonsense. And when the form is wrong it says so in plain words, one line per field, not one red error for the whole page.

Nobody leaves empty-handed. When the request is sent, the visitor gets a numbered RFQ with the full text of it - one button opens it in their email, another copies it. Your inbox receives a request that is already complete, instead of "hi, can you quote something".

Your prices, your materials, your lead times live in one file you can read. The page and the tests read that same file, so the site and the arithmetic can never drift apart. Nothing is loaded from anywhere else - no fonts, no libraries, no analytics - so the page runs entirely in your browser and stays fast on a weak connection.

It looks like your shop, not like a template. The drawing on the first screen is a real flat pattern with dimension lines, drawn in code. The dark theme is built as its own night shift, not as inverted colours.

78 automated tests, including a run of the real page in a real browser: an empty form refuses with readable hints, a complete one produces the request, the theme switch remembers itself, nothing slides sideways on a 375-pixel phone, and every button and link stays at least 44 pixels.

After launch has its own page, with a price on it. $120 a month: watching that the site is up, an hour of edits, a weekly test of the form with a real request, backups, and a one-page monthly report. It also says plainly what the monthly plan does not cover. Anything beyond it is $50 an hour.
