A neighbourhood bakery wants customers to order ahead and pick up at a set time, so the morning rush becomes a queue of ready bags. The app has to respect how a bakery really works: oven batches, cakes baked to order, limited stock, and a counter that can only hand out so many orders every half hour.
The app is built around the oven schedule. The customer fills a bag and picks a day and a time on a timeline that already knows what is possible: full slots, times before an item is baked, same-day lead time, the cutoff for cakes. Times when all the bread and pastries in the bag come out of the oven within 40 minutes before pickup are marked Warm.
Problems are explained in plain words before the order goes through: the cake had to be ordered by 6 pm the day before, only 2 cakes are left for Saturday and the bag has 3, the time has passed. After ordering, the customer gets a pickup code and in-app notifications when the order goes into the oven and when it is ready. "Play pickup day" shows that morning in a few seconds. Order history with "Order again", light and dark themes, keyboard and screen-reader support.
How it is built: Expo and React Native with TypeScript - one codebase for iPhone, Android and the web. All shop rules live in one module covered by automated tests, run in three time zones. End-to-end tests drive the web build through the whole order, notifications, saving across reloads, error messages, phone sizes, both themes and keyboard use. What you open here is the web build; it has not been run on a physical iPhone or Android phone in this demo.
In a real project: the app is published in the App Store and Google Play under your own accounts; next steps are card payments, real push notifications, a staff screen and a link to your till or stock. Monthly support from 150 USD: Expo and React Native updates, checks on new iOS and Android versions, new store requirements, menu and text changes.
